
Louisville in Third Place After First Day at Cardinal Cup

Martin and Hartlage lead the Cardinals at three-over and tied for sixth.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â After a windy day of competition, the University of Louisville women's golf team finished the first day of the Cardinal Cup in third place.

Mairead Martin led the field after first round play, shooting a two-under 70 to start the day. Lauren Hartlage finished close behind at 71 to tie for second. Lauren Thibodeau finished the round tied for 12th at one-over.

Delaney Shah recorded eight birdies in her opening round, while Olivia Cason shot a 77 and recorded the lone eagle for the Cardinals.

As a team, the Cardinals finished the first round three-over in second place.

Martin and Hartalge finished the day at three-over and tied for sixth place following 17 holes in the second round. Thibodeau and Shah were able to finish all 18 holes in the second round and are tied for 19th place, after shooting 75. Cason also finished all 18 holes with a 78.

As individual competitors, Linda Trockel shot 76 and 77 in the first two rounds, Meghan Nay finished with 79 and 80 and Margot Bechadergue finished with 78 and 80.

Due to a frost delay, Sunday's action will tee off at 11:15 a.m. ET. The final round will begin immediately following completion of the second round.
