September 05, 2017 | Swimming & Diving
Harting, Comerford, Worrell and Cottrell join Team USA
University of Louisville swimmers Mallory Comerford, Zach Harting, Kelsi Worrell and Andrea Cottrell are four of the 115 members of the 2017-18 USA National Team, which honors the nation's top swimmers for their performances this year. In addition, the USA Coaching Staff was announced with UofL's Arthur Albiero, Stephanie Juncker and Vlad Polyakov joining the staff.
Â
The USA Swimming National Team roster is comprised of the top six swimmers in each individual Olympic event.
Â
"USA Swimming enjoyed outstanding performances across the board this summer at the FINA World Championships, World University Games and domestically," said Frank Busch, USA Swimming National Team Director. "It was a tremendous first year of the Olympic quad for Team USA swimmers, and these athletes will look to build on these successes as they approach the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo."
Â
The United States won a record 38 medals in the pool competition – and added three more medals open water events – at the 2017 FINA World Championships in Hungary. Just last week, American athletes earned 28 medals at the World University Games in Taipei and 32 medals at the FINA World Junior Championships in Indianapolis.
