Women's Tennis Completes Second Day at Miami Invitational

Cards roll in singles.
The University of Louisville women's tennis team picked up five singles wins against Xavier and a doubles win against Miami at the Miami of Ohio Invitational in Oxford, Ohio Saturday.

In singles, Louisville picked up wins at Nos. 1,2,4,5,6 against the Musketeers. Mariana Humberg dropped her first set against Lauren Ghidotti before gritting out a tiebreaker and then winning 4-6, 7-6, 6-3. Maya Smith won a three setter over Sophia Abelson 6-5, 3-6, 6-3 before Raven Neely rolled 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4. Tiffany Huber took care of business at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Lauren Fitz-Randolph. Mia Schmidt-Jorgensen beat XU's Zoe Manion.

In doubles versus Miami, Raven Neely and Maya Smith won 6-2 at No. 3.

The event features a four-team field in which Miami is joined by Louisville, Purdue, and Xavier. Each school makes three singles and three doubles rotations, facing off against the other three squads once in both categories. The Miami Invitational, like all fall tennis events, is not scored on a team basis. Players are competing as individuals and results affect their individual rankings.
