
Kelsi Worrell Heads to Semi-Finals of 50 Fly at World Championships

Rising Sophomores Andrej Barna and Nastja Govejsek were representing their countries and the Cards this morning
The University of Louisville swim team had three athletes compete today in the prelims at the 2017 FINA World Championship. Kelsi Worrell advanced to tonight's semi-finals of the 50 fly with a time of 25.65.

Cardinal Andrej Barna of Serbia led off UofL's morning with a 22.61 in the 50 free to finish 33rd overall. Bruno Fratus of Brazil was the top seed at 21.51.

Kelsi Worrell tied her lifetime best in the 50 fly and will head to tonight's semi-final of the 50 Fly seeded second after posting a a 25.65 in prelims, just .15 away from Dana Vollmer's American record. Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom took the top spot, going 25.25 to win the last heat of the morning. Cardinal Nastja Govejsek of Slovenia, flew to a time of 26.65 and finished 22nd overall.
