Lacrosse Faces James Madison in NCAA Tournament First Round

Cardinals begin postseason play on Friday at 6 p.m.
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The University of Louisville lacrosse team will face James Madison in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, May 12 at 6:00 p.m. in University Park, Pa. No. 18 Louisville is making its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. No. 18 Louisville secured an at-large bid after finishing the season with an overall record of 11-7.

For the season, senior Hannah Koloski leads the way for the Cardinals with 62 points on the season, scoring 60 goals and two assists. Sophomore Meghan Siverson has 62 points on the season from 54 goals and eight assists. Junior goalkeeper Brittany Read, the ACC Defender of the Year, leads the Cardinals in goal with a 9.58 goals against average with 186 saves on the year. Junior Madison Hoover leads the Cardinals with 20 assists while Stephanie McNamara leads the team on defense with 38 ground balls and a team-high 27 caused turnovers.

James Madison moved up three spots to No. 16 in the newest IWLCA Division I Coaches Poll. The Dukes (13-6) claimed their 10th CAA title with wins against Delaware (11-10 OT) and Elon (15-7).

CAA Player of the Year Haley Warden was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Performer, and she was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Leah Monticello, Emily Poelma and Caroline Sdanowich. JMU averages 12.89 goals per game while limiting foes to 8.58 goals per outing, which ranks eighth nationally.

Friday's meeting will be the first meeting between the two teams. Head Coach Kellie Young was JMU's head coach from 2002-06, leading the Dukes to three CAA tournament titles, three NCAA appearances and a 59-34 record.
