Second ranked North Carolina visits the Cardinals on Saturday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville lacrosse team prepares to host second-ranked North Carolina on Saturday at UofL Lacrosse Stadium. Due to travel issues the game will now start at 12:30 p.m. instead of the previous noon start time.
Louisville (10-4, 2-2) grabbed a 13-12 overtime road victory against No. 12 Virginia Tech on Saturday. Sophomore Meghan Siverson scored three goals, including the game winner on the first possession of overtime, and two assists to lead the Cards. Senior Hannah Koloski tallied four goals in the win, while Freshman Ashley Lynch assisted on two goals and scored one. Junior goalkeeper Brittany Read stopped seven shots in the winning effort.
Koloski leads Louisville and the nation in goals with 53 and is fourth in the nation in goals per game with 3.79, and has two assists for 55 points. Siverson hit the 50-point plateau with 44 goals and six assists on the year, while fellow sophomore McKayla Conti has 22 goals and five assists for 27 points. Lynch leads the team in assists with 16. Read has stopped 132 saves on the year which is good for second in the nation, while ranking 11th in the nation with a .512 save percentage, and a 9.04 goals-against average.
The Tar Heels (11-1, 4-0) also grabbed a road victory last weekend, defeating No. 12 Notre Dame 16-9. Molly Hendrick scored four goals in the win, while fellow senior Carly Reed grabbed three goals and added two assists. Goalkeeper Caylee Waters recorded 12 saves in the win.
Ela Hazar leads North Carolina with 46 points from a balanced attack of 25 assists and 21 goals. Hendrick has 43 points from 39 goals and four assists, while Marie McCool has 37 points from 28 goals and nine assists. Waters has a 9.13 goals-against average, a .505 save percentage, and 107 saves.
North Carolina leads the all-time series versus Louisville 2-0. The Cards fell to the Tar Heels 15-5 in the previous meeting last season in Chapel Hill.
