
Women's Tennis Heads to Wake Forest Invitational

Cards coming off strong showing last weekend.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team continues its 2017-18 fall season this weekend as it travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the Wake Forest Invitational hosted by Wake Forest University. Louisville returns to this event for the second straight year.

The Cardinals will be joined by host Wake Forest, Liberty, Marshall, Kansas State, Virginia, James Madison, Wright State, Winthrop, Appalachian State, Richmond, and William & Mary. Louisville defeated Liberty 6-1, Marshall 4-3 and Virginia 4-3 last season during spring dual match play.

Last weekend, six of Louisville's eight singles players defeated Miami's singles players during the first day at the Miami Invitational. The doubles team of Mariana Humberg and Abbie Pahz defeated the doubles team of Ena Babic and Silvia Ambrosio from Purdue during the first day of competition. The second day of competition Humberg, Mava Smith, Raven Neely, Tiffany Huber, and Mia Schmidt-Jorgensen all took home wins in singles play over Xavier. The teams of Neely and Smith and Anna Collins and Schmidt-Jorgensen both took home wins in doubles play over Miami teams. The Cardinals wrapped up the Miami Invitational with three wins in singles play over Purdue and two doubles wins over Xavier.

Louisville will travel next to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to compete in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional next weekend. The fall schedule will conclude with the hosting of the Louisville Tennis Classic on Nov. 3-5, with Ball State, Michigan State and West Virginia heading to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
