UofL newcomer competed for Team USA in Hong Kong
University of Louisville freshman swimmer Theodore "TC" Smith finished 29th in the 10K Open Water Swim at the FINA/HOSA 10km Marathon World Cup in Hong Kong last weekend.
Â
He posted a time of 1:53:32.80 which made him the third fastest American in the field. Â The race was won by Germany's Rob Muffels, who touched in 1:53:10.40 for the gold.
Â
"I am very pleased with the outcome of this week's race," said Smith. "Having the race only being my third 10K and first race at the international level, it was a great experience and offers a lot to learn from. Being able to travel with a team of highly-regarded athletes and coaches whom you have raced against all your life, and then come together as one team with the same three letters on your cap was awesome. It's always exciting to see your hard work not only qualify you for incredible trips like this one, but then to also pay off in the midst of such elite competition. I feel really good about what the future holds."
