Men's Soccer Visits Pittsburgh Friday for ACC Opener

Cardinals and Panthers set for 7 p.m., ET kickoff on ACC Network Extra
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â The Louisville men's soccer team kicks off its Atlantic Coast Conference slate with a visit to Pittsburgh on Friday at 7 p.m., ET. The match will be televised on ACC Network Extra, available online through WatchESPN, while live scoring is provided at GoCards.com.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville dropped its first match of the season in a 1-0 loss at No. 16 Kentucky on Tuesday. The match was the second straight road contest against a ranked foe for the Cardinals, who won 2-0 at No. 14 UConn last Friday. Louisville lost to UK despite finishing with a 16-2 edge in shots, including a 13-0 margin in the second half.
The Cardinals returned eight players with 13 or more starts from last year's team, including the top three goal scorers in sophomore Tate Schmitt (seven goals), senior Daniel Johnson (five goals) and junior Tim Kubel (five goals). Schmitt was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team, while Kubel (First Team) and Johnson (Second Team) were tabbed All-ACC selections last season.
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
Pittsburgh enters Friday's match at 1-1-1 on the season after earning a 4-1 victory at St. Joseph's on Sunday. Last season, the Panthers were 5-9-3 overall and finished 0-7-1 in the ACC. The 2016 season in the first for Pittsburgh under the guidance  of head coach Jay Vidovich, who guided Wake Forest to an NCAA title in 2007.

Friday marks the fourth meeting all-time between the Cardinals and Panthers with Louisville holding a 3-0-0 edge overall. This will be just the second meeting all-time between the programs in Pittsburgh after Louisville earned a 2-1 win in its first visit on Sept. 8, 2006.
