Louisville Falls at North Carolina 15-5, Snapping Five Game Win Streak

Cardinals fall at UNC on Saturday afternoon
LOUISVILLE, KY. – The No. 5/7 Louisville lacrosse team had a five game win streak snapped on Saturday, falling to No. 3 North Carolina 15-5 on Saturday afternoon in Chapel Hill.  Hannah Koloski led the Cardinals (12-2, 3-2) with two goals.
"We didn't show up to play today," said head coach Kellie Young. Â
Kaylin Morissette found Koloski in the opening minutes to get the Cardinals on the board first.  The Tar Heels responded with a 3-0 run to take a 3-1 lead with 20:04 left in the half. North Carolina led the rest of the first half, building a 9-3 lead with a pair of 4-0 runs. Emily Howell scored as time expired in the first half to cut the UNC lead to 9-4 at the break.
North Carolina finished the first half with an 18-13 shot advantage and an 8-5 advantage in draw controls. Both teams finished the half with six clears.Â
UNC started the second half with back-to-back goals in the opening minutes to take an 11-4 lead. Koloski responded eight minutes later to make it 11-5, only to see UNC score the last four goals of the game.
North Carolina finished with a slight 29-28 shot advantage and an 11-10 draw control advantage. Louisville finished with 19 ground balls while UNC finished with 18.Â
Cortnee Daley led the Cardinals with six ground balls while adding a goal and an assist.  Morissette led the Cardinals with seven draw controls. Howell and Madison Hoover finished with a goal each while Morissette and Meghan Siverson added assists.
The Tar Heels finished with 13 saves. Brittany Read took the loss for the Cardinals, finishing with six saves.Â
The Cardinals will return to action on Saturday, April 16 as they host Virginia at Noon for the final home game of the season.Â
