Cardinals will honor senior class in pregame ceremony
LOUISVILLE, KY. – The No. 5/8 Cardinals (12-2, 3-2 ACC) host No. 11/14 Virginia (7-6, 1-4 ACC) in its regular season home finale at UofL Lacrosse Stadium at noon on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals honor one of the most highly decorated senior classes in a pregame ceremony.Â

In its last matchup against No. 3/3 North Carolina, the Cardinals snapped a five-game winning streak as the Tar Heels took a 15-5 victory. Hannah Koloski paced the team with two goals while Madison Hoover, Cortnee Daley, and Emily Howell scored a goal apiece.

Morissette continues to lead the way for the Cardinals in scoring with 47 points, scoring 31 goals and adding 16 assists. Morissette leads the nation with 134 draw controls, averaging 9.57 draws a game. Daley is second on the team with 40 points (31 goals and nine assists) while Gerding is third on the team with 39 points (21 goals and a team-high 18 assists). Koloski boasts a team-best 36 goals and adds two assists for 38 points. In the cage, Read boasts a .515 save percentage, which is ninth in the nation. The sophomore goalkeeper has 106 saves on the season and boasts a 7.09 goals against average, which is 10th in the nation.Â

In their last game, the Cavaliers kicked off a four-game road stretch with a 13-9 victory at Navy for their first road win of the season. Against Navy, the Cavaliers displayed a balanced attack in which eight different players scored and had hat tricks by Kasey Behr and Kelly Boyd.

On the season, Kasey Behr leads the team with 33 points (30 goals and three assists). Posey Valis (27 goals and four assists) and Besser Dyson (18 goals and a team leading 13 assists) are tied for second with 31 points. Kelly Reese adds 18 goals while Kelly Boyd and Maggie Jackson add 17 and 12 goals, respectively. Mary Alati is second on the team with 11 assists and leads the team with 28 ground balls. In the cage, Rachel Vander Kolk boasts a .421 save percentage and has a 10.91 goals against average with 104 saves on the season.

The Cavaliers won the only previous meeting between the two schools with a 17-9 win in Charlottesville, Va. The Cardinals had a 4-3 lead late in the first half before the Cavaliers went on a 6-0 run to end the first half with a 9-4 advantage. Out of the half, the Cards went on a 4-0 run to make the game close before Virginia put it out of reach. Koloski led the Cardinals with three goals and Cortnee Daley added two while Morissette had a game-high 13 draw controls.
