Cardinals face tough test against No. 3 UNC at Noon on Saturday
LOUISVILLE, KY. – Riding a five-game winning streak, the Cardinals (12-1, 3-1 ACC) head to Chapel Hill, N.C. for a battle against conference leader and third ranked North Carolina on Saturday at noon.                      Â
Most recently against Brown, Kelli Gerding scored a game-high four goals while Cortnee Daley added three goals to lead the Cardinals to a 14-8 victory. Hannah Koloski, Kaylin Morissette, and Madison Hoover added two goals apiece for the Cards. Morissette added two assists and had a game-high six draw controls. Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Read had five saves.

Morissette continues to lead the way for the Cardinals in scoring with 46 points, scoring 31 goals and adding 15 assists. Morissette leads the nation with 127 draw controls, averaging 9.77 draws a game. Gerding is second on the team with 39 points (21 goals and a team-high 18 assists) while Daley is third on the team with 38 points (30 goals and eight assists). Koloski leads the team with 34 goals and adds two assists for 36 points. In the cage, Read boasts a .541 save percentage, which is third in the nation. The sophomore goalkeeper has 100 saves on the season and boasts a 6.49 goals against average, which is fifth in the nation.Â

North Carolina enters the matchup with a 10-2 overall record and a perfect 4-0 record in conference play. The Tar Heels are currently riding a seven-game win streak after defeating then-No.5/6 Notre Dame 14-8 last weekend.

On the season, Molly Hendrick boasts a team-high 47 points while scoring 40 points, which is fifth best in the nation. Sammy Jo Tracy (22 goals, 13 assists) and Aly Messinger (17 goals, 18 assists) are tied for second on the team with 35 points. Marie McCool adds 27 goals and seven assists for 34 points. Tracy leads the team with 87 draw controls and is fourth in the nation with 7.25 draws a game. In goal, Caylee Waters leads the team with 72 saves and a 7.58 goals against average.

The Tar Heels won the only previous meeting between the two schools with an 18-5 victory at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium. The Cardinals led 4-3 late in the first half before the Tar Heels went on a 9-0 run to put the game out of reach. Hannah Koloski led the Cards with two goals while Morissette, Daley, and Anna Kopecka each scored a goal.
