Hairston Named to Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Watch List

Sophomore is hitting .388 with one home run, 10 doubles, 31 RBI and 40 runs scored
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville sophomore Devin Hairston was named Thursday to the initial 2016 watch list for the Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award.
The award honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented as part of the College Baseball Hall of Fame's annual Night of Champions celebration on July 2 in Lubbock. Of the 54 players recognized on the first watch list of the year, 19 are classified as freshmen or sophomores.
A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Hairston is hitting .388 with one home run, 10 doubles, 31 RBI and 40 runs scored while starting all 37 games at shortstop for the third-ranked Cardinals. Hairston is tied for the team-lead with 20 multiple-hit games this season and is third on the squad with nine multiple-RBI games. On Tuesday night, Hairston provided the game-winning RBI single Louisville's walk-off win against No. 12 Kentucky.
Up next, No. 3 Louisville returns to ACC action with a weekend visit to Boston College starting Friday at 2:30 p.m., ET. The Cardinals and Eagles are also scheduled for Saturday at 1:30 p.m., and Sunday at noon.
