Cardinals face first ACC road test at Duke this weekend
LOUISVILLE, KY. – The No. 5 University of Louisville women's lacrosse team will travel to No. 15/16 Duke on Saturday for the first ACC road game of the season at 1:00 p.m.

Boasting the program's highest ranking and best start in history, the No. 5 Cardinals enter the conference matchup with a 7-0 record including a 2-0 clip in the ACC. Coming off solid performances in the two victories over ranked opponents No. 10 Northwestern and No. 5 Notre Dame, Kaylin Morissette and Brittany Read were named ACC Players of the Week.Â
Cortnee Daley and Julia Wood each posted hat tricks while Kelli Gerding added four assists and Brittany Read recorded a career-high 13 saves in the first ever victory in five tries against the Wildcats. Against Notre Dame, Hannah Koloski scored four goals while Daley added three but it was Gerding's goal in overtime that lifted the Cardinals to a 10-9 overtime victory over the Irish.Â
Kaylin Morissette continues to lead the way for the Cardinals in scoring with 26 points, scoring 17 goals and adding nine assists. Morissette is second in the nation with 67 draw controls, averaging 9.57 draws a game. Cortnee Daley and Hannah Koloski each have 17 goals apiece while Kelli Gerding paces the team in assists with 12. Sophomore Brittany Read has started all seven games in goal and has 61 saves on the year. Read is first in the nation with a .616 save percentage and is third in the nation in recording a 5.32 goals against average.
No. 15 Duke enters the game with a 4-4 overall record after falling to Georgetown 10-9 on Wednesday. The Blue Devils is 1-0 in conference play after defeating Virginia Tech 13-4 last weekend.
Kyra Harney leads the Blue Devils with 31 points, scoring 22 goals and adding nine assists. Kelci Smesko is second on the team with 27 points by scoring 17 goals and adding a team-high 10 assists. Olivia Jenner adds 12 goals and leads the team with 44 draw controls while Maddy Acton adds 11 goals on the season. In the cage, Kelsey Duryea has recorded a 7.60 goals against average and has 71 saves on the season, which leads the ACC. Duryea became the third goalkeeper in program history to surpass 500 saves for her career.Â
Duke leads the series 3-0 and won both matchups last season. The Blue Devils took a 10-8 victory at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium and also took a 14-7 victory in the first round of the ACC Tournament.
