
Lacrosse Faces Temple on the Road on Friday

Cards face first road test against the Owls on Friday
LOUISVILLE, KY. – The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team will travel to Temple on Friday for the first road test of the 2016 season.Â
The Cardinals opened the 2016 season with a 14-6 win over Marquette at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday. Senior Cortnee Daley and sophomores Julia Wood and Jillian Balog each recorded hat tricks to lead the Cardinals.Â
Sophomore keeper Brittany Read held the Golden Eagles at bay, making 12 saves in the winning effort. Louisville finished the game with a 35-27 shot advantage, including a 22-18 shots on goal advantage.Â
The Cardinals were dominate in draw controls with a 17-5 advantage. Senior Kaylin Morissette led the Cardinals with 12 draw controls.Â
Temple is coming off a 10-6 season that saw the Owls record their best start in 18 years. Temple struggled in conference play, going 2-5 and finishing sixth of eight teams. The Owls have again been picked to finish sixth in the BIG EAST for the 2016 season. Â
Louisville leads the series 1-0 against the Owls. The Cardinals defeated Temple 15-6 in Philadelphia during the 2014 season.Â
