Christoper Morin-Kougoucheff and Nicolas Rouanet post runner-up finish in doubles
The University of Louisville's Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff and Nicolas Rouanet posted a runner-up finish in the 2016 Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic on Sunday.
Morin-Kougoucheff, a sophomore from Capbreton, France, and Rouanet, a junior from Gujan Mestres, France. picked up a pair of wins in the tournament to reach Sunday's finals where they fell 8-6 to UCF's Harrison Richmond and Mariano Porter.
In singles action, freshman Ciro Lampasas (Houston, Texas) defeated Florida's Stephen Madonia 6-0, 6-0 in a consolation match.
"We did well in this prestigious event," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "Chris was very close to playing in both the doubles and singles finals. Each player left with at least two quality singles wins and both are doubles teams competed at a high level losing only to the eventual champion. The finals was a pro atmosphere with a microphone on the chair umpire, a nice crowd and a trophy presentation by Dick Vitale and Chris Marquez. The tournament staff expressed how impressed they were with not only the level of our play but how well these Chris, Nico, Santi and Ciro carried themselves off the court and the politeness that they showed to the tournament hosts and fans."
