January 30, 2026 | Men's Tennis
Ahouda and El Amine claimed a doubles victory on the day
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team put up a fierce battle in doubles competition but was ultimately swept 4-0 by in-state rival Kentucky on the road.Â
Kentucky's only ranked pair of No. 69 Jack Loutit and Eli Stephenson took the first doubles win of the evening on the top court.Â
Courts 2 and 3 came down to the wire as both were determined by a tiebreaker. No. 59 Hamza El Amine and Walid Ahouda rallied from down three games to take a 7-6(7-4) win on the middle court.Â
With all eyes on the Court 3, the two pairs traded points back and forth in the tiebreak, and after multiple match points on both sides, the Wildcats prevailed 7-6(9-7).Â
UK took this momentum into singles competition, swiftly taking down courts four then two. Andre' Steinbach and Ahouda were both competing in their third sets but were unable to finish as the Cats claimed Court 6.Â
The Cards will return home for another midweek match at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. They will face Dayton on Feb. 4 with first serve set for 3 p.m. ET.Â
