Men's Tennis Set for Florida Gulf Coast Invitational
January 12, 2017 | Men's Tennis
Cards will head south for preseason tournament
The University of Louisville men's tennis team will travel to Ft. Myers, Fla., to compete at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational Jan. 13-15. Participating teams in tournament include host Florida Gulf Coast, South Florida, and Wisconsin.
Â
"We're really excited about the tournament," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "When you've got Florida Gulf Coast at home and South Florida, Wisconsin – the level of competition is going to be super high, so you'll get to know what type of players you have, what doubles teams work, what guys are comfortable with what position in the lineup… it'll feel like a dual match right away. You'll see how the team responds as far as how hard they compete. I expect to see a ton of close matches and we'll see how they compete under pressure. I'm excited about it – we're ready for the season."
Â
The Cardinals will officially open the 2017 dual match season on Jan. 20 when they play host to Samford at 12 p.m. and Chicago State at 6 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
