Women's Tennis Wraps Up Wake Forest Invitational

The University of Louisville women's tennis team recorded 10 wins over the weekend at the 2016 Wake Forest University Invite. Players from 12 schools competed in the invite.

Oliva Boesing and Sena Suswam competed in the B Singles competition, while Ariana Rodriguez and Jessie Paul competed in the C Singles competition.

B Singles: Boesing fell in the opening round of the completion, 4-6, 1-6, to Kiana Marshall of Richmond. She would then compete in the two consolation rounds, beating Courtney Meridith of Wake Forest, 6-2, 7-6 (2) and Aida Kelic of Winthrop, 7-5, 6-2. Suswan defeated Cat Rico of Navy, 6-3, 6-2, in the opening round, but would fall to Suzanne Zenoni of Elon, 1-6, 3-6. She would move on to compete in the fifth place bracket, but fell to Nastifa Rettich of ECU, 3-6, 1-6.

C Singles: Paul fell in the opening round of competition, 2-6, 6-3, 5-7, to Sofi Wreder of Navy to move into the consolation bracket, but would fall in the first round to Kirsten Ward of Elon, 6-4, 6-0. Rodriguez defeated Eugenia Camacho of Liberty, 6-1, 6-1, in the opening round, but would fall to Maria Storozheva of ECU, 3-6, 1-6.

Of the 10 wins, six came from the doubles competition featuring the pairings of Sena Suswam/Olivia Boesing and Jessie Paul/Ariana Rodriguez. Suswam/Boesing won the B Doubles competition defeating the pairs from Navy, 8-0, Richmond, 8-6, and Wake Forest, 8-5. Paul/Rodriguez competed and won the C Doubles competition defeating the pairs from Navy, 8-0, Elon, 8-2, and East Carolina, 8-5.
