McKay Earns Freshman All-America Honor from NCBWA

Brendan McKay earned his ninth win of the season on Sunday against Cal State Fullerton.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville freshman lefthanded pitcher and first baseman Brendan McKay was named First Team Freshman All-America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Monday.
It was the second such honor for the Darlington, Pennsylvania, native after Collegiate Baseball newspaper tabbed him as not only a First Team Freshman All-American, but also as a national Freshman of the Year.
Selected as the 2015 ACC Freshman of the Year, McKay has a 9-3 record with a 1.77 ERA and 117 strikeouts in 96.2 innings and 20 appearances on the mound, including 13 straight weekend starts. An All-ACC First Team selection as a pitcher and a Second Team honoree as a utility player, McKay is hitting .314 with four home runs, 33 RBI, 38 walks and 32 runs scored in 57 starts as a hitter.
No. 3 national seed Louisville will attempt to earn its third straight College World Series berth in the final game of the best-of-three NCAA Super Regional against No. 11 Cal State Fullerton on Monday at 7 p.m., ET (ESPN2) at Jim Patterson Stadium.
