The University of Louisville women's tennis team took the doubles point and then four of the singles matches for a 5-2 win over intrastate rival Western Kentucky Saturday afternoon at the Bass Rudd Tennis Center.

"It feels good to be on the winning side again," said UofL head coach Mark Beckham. "That WKU team definitely pushed us and that is what we needed. This is a win we can feel good about because we beat some good players. Hopefully, we can use this to have a very good performance on Friday versus Florida State."

The Cards took the doubles point when Ariana Rodriguez and Cassie Pough combined for an 8-0 win. Then Manuela Velasquez and Elle Stokes paired to win 8-5 at No. 1 to clinch the point at No. 1.

In singles, Manuela Velasquez finished off Emilia Granstrom 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 for the first singles point. Cassie Pough won 6-2, 6-4 over Madeline Phillips at No. 6 and Olivia Boesing clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Andrea Christopolou 6-4, 6-2. Chloe Willetts fell 6-3, 2-6, 0-6 at No. 4 and Elle Stokes dropped her third set to fall 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1.
