Cardinals Downed at No. 24 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. --Â The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-0 at No. 24-ranked Duke Friday afternoon at the Ambler Tennis Center.Â

Louisville (9-5, 1-5 ACC) dropped the doubles point when Irina Balus and Eleana Yu defeated Cardinals Elena Noguero and Berta Miret 6-1 and then clinched the point when the No. 13-ranked pair of Shavit Kimchi and Liv Hovde beat Lika Peresypkina and Alice Otis 6-3 at the No. 1 slot.Â

The Cards met the same fate in singles when No. 107 ranked Aspen Schuman downed Noguero 6-2, 6-1. No. 13 Irina Balus held off Alice Otis on court one with a 6-1, 6-4 win. The match was clinched by Duke's Katie Codd, who defeated Anshika Jaswal 6-2, 6-0.Â

Duke improves its record to 10-3 and 4-0 in league play.Â

The Cardinals head over to Chapel Hill for a match with North Carolina on Sunday as ACC play continues.Â
