
Six Cardinals Head to Mesa for Grand Prix

The University of Louisville is sending six swimmers to Arizona for the Arena Pro Swim Series. The four-day meet - formerly known as the Arena Grand Prix Series - and will be held at the Skyline Aquatic Center April 15-18.
For the Cardinals, two-time NCAA Champion in the 100- and 200-fly Kelsi Worrell will be joined by Tanja Kylliainen, Andrea Cottrell and Andrea Kneppers. For the men, Carlos Claverie and Marcelo Acosta will represent UofL. The Cardinals will be swimming along side of Olympic gold medalists and world-record holders Katie Ledecky, Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps as well as 40-plus members of the USA Swimming National Team expected to compete at Mesa.
The meet opens with a timed-final distance session at 9 p.m. EST on Wednesday, April 15. Thursday, April 16 through Saturday, April 18, prelims will begin at noon EST, followed by finals at 9 p.m. MST.
Universal Sports Network will broadcast the meet Thursday, April 16 and Friday, April 17 at 9 p.m. EDT with veteran play-by-play announcer Ted Robinson and analyst Rowdy Gaines calling the action from Mesa.
Additionally, a webcast of the complete meet will be available at usaswimming.org.
Expected to join Ledecky, Lochte and Phelps in the field are fellow individual Olympic gold medalists Tyler Clary, Natalie Coughlin, Matt Grevers, and Allison Schmidt, Elizabeth Beisel and Conor Dwyer.
