Cards close out regular ACC season on the road
The No. 15 University of Louisville volleyball team wraps up the regular season with two road matches this week. The Cards will face Boston College on Wednesday afternoon for a 1 p.m. first serve before taking on Syracuse on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.
The Cardinals moved up two spots to No. 15 in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll after sweeping Clemson and Georgia Tech last weekend at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals are ranked No. 14 in the latest RPI rankings.
Louisville enters the week with a 23-5 overall record and a 17-1 record in conference play after defeating Clemson and Georgia Tech last weekend. Against Clemson, Erin Fairs had 16 kills and hit .538 to lead the Cardinals to a 25-20, 25-14, 25-19 sweep of the Tigers. The Cardinals hit a season-best .402 against the Tigers and had eight kills from Maya McClendon and seven from Aniah Philo. Katie George added 40 assists and Molly Sauer had a match-high 16 digs. Against Georgia Tech, Erin Fairs had 11 kills to lead the Cardinals to a 28-26, 27-25, 25-14 sweep over the Yellow Jackets on Senior Day. Louisville recognized seniors Katie George, Erin Fairs, and Roxanne McVey for their decorated careers as a Cardinal. Tess Clark had a team-high 12 kills while Katie George added a match-high 38 assists and 11 digs. Molly Sauer had 11 digs while Roxanne McVey added 10 digs.
On the season, Louisville ranks first in the conference and fourth in the nation with 14.74 kills per set with senior outside hitter Erin Fairs leading the Cardinal attack with 399 kills and averaging 3.91 kills per set, which is second in the conference. Junior outside hitter Janelle Jenkins adds 313 kills while sophomore middle blocker Tess Clark adds 233 kills and boasts a team-high 104 blocks. Clark also leads the ACC and is fourth in the nation with a .442 attack percentage. Senior setter Katie George has dished out 1228 assists on the season and is ranked fifth in the nation while leading the ACC with an average of 12.04 assists per set. She is second on the team with 279 digs. Louisville is second in the ACC with 16.68 digs per set. Freshman libero Molly Sauer has 465 digs (4.56 digs per set) and leads the team with 28 aces. As a team, Louisville holds opponents to a .169 hitting percentage, which is third-best in the conference.
First up for the Cardinals this week is a 1 p.m. first serve against Boston College on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles enters the week on a five-game losing streak after falling to Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech on the road last weekend. The Eagles boast an 11-19 overall record and a 3-15 record in conference play. Senior outside hitter Katty Workman leads the offense with 405 kills and averages 3.86 kills per set, which is fourth in the conference. Sophomore outside hitter Sol Calvete is second on the team with 286 kills and 273 digs. Redshirt junior right side Julia Topor adds 224 kills for the Eagles. Senior setter Mallori Moffat leads the team with 813 assists along with 200 digs. Junior libero Madisen Lydon leads the team with 434 digs and averages 3.88 digs per set

The team meets for the second time this season as the Cardinals took a 3-0 victory earlier this year at the KFC Yum! Center. Janelle Jenkins and Aniah Philo both had 12 kills to lead the Cards to a 25-12, 25-12, 25-17 sweep. Katty Workman led the Eagles with eight kills.
The Cardinals will then face Syracuse in their regular season finale on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Orange enter the weekend with a 21-8 overall record and a 12-6 clip in the ACC. Syracuse had a three-game winning streak snapped against Virginia Tech but rebounded with a 3-1 win over Pittsburgh on Sunday. Senior outside hitter Silvi Uattara leads the attack with 341 kills on the season and averages 3.13 kills per set. Redshirt senior outside hitter Nicolette Serratore adds 308 kills and is second on the team with 316 digs. Senior outside hitter Monika Salkute adds 288 kills for the Orange. Sophomore middle blocker Leah Levert boasts a conference-best 156 blocks along with 164 kills. Freshman middle blocker Santita Ebangwese contributes 138 blocks along with 157 kills. Senior setter Gosia Wlaszczuk sets up the offense for the Orange and has 1000 assists on the season. Sophomore libero Belle Sand boasts a team-high 427 digs.
