No. 22 Volleyball Heads to Miami and Florida State

Cards take on No. 2 and No. 3T in the ACC this weekend
The No. 22 University of Louisville volleyball team travels to the Sunshine State for two key conference matchups this weekend. The Cardinals will face Miami on Friday night at 7 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend with a 1 p.m. first serve against No. 20 Florida State.
Louisville enters the week with a 19-5 overall record and a 13-1 record in conference play. Last weekend, the Cardinals won a 3-2 thriller over Pittsburgh before sweeping Virginia Tech on Sunday. Against Pittsburgh, Erin Fairs had 23 kills, three blocks, and two aces to lead the Cardinals to a 23-25, 25-15, 10-25, 26-24, 15-11 victory. For the match, the Cards hit .184 but had 14 blocks and three aces. Tess Clark joined Fairs in double digits with 10 kills while adding five blocks. Katie George posted a double-double with 53 assists and a season-high 17 digs. Molly Sauer had a team-high 24 digs and Maggie DeJong had a team-high seven blocks to pace the Cardinals. Against Virginia Tech, Erin Fairs posted a match-high 13 kills, two aces, and two blocks to lead the Cards to a 25-21, 25-19, 25-19 sweep over the Hokies. UofL hit .378 with three aces and four blocks. Maya McClendon came off the bench and had 12 kills while Janelle Jenkins added 11 kills.
On the season, Louisville ranks first in the conference and sixth in the nation with 14.62 kills per set with senior outside hitter Erin Fairs leading the Cardinal attack with 346 kills and averaging 3.98 kills per set, which is second in the conference. Junior outside hitter Janelle Jenkins adds 273 kills while sophomore middle blocker Tess Clark adds 185 kills and boasts a team-high 88 blocks. Clark also leads the ACC and is fifth in the nation with a .444 attack percentage. Senior setter Katie George has dished out 1042 assists on the season and is ranked fifth in the nation while leading the ACC with an average of 11.98 assists per set. George is second on the team with 239 digs. Louisville is second in the ACC with 16.66 digs per set. Freshman libero Molly Sauer has 394 digs (4.53 digs per set) and leads the team with 24 aces. As a team, Louisville holds opponents to a .168 hitting percentage, which is third-best in the conference.
First up for the Cardinals this weekend is Miami in an ESPN3 televised matchup on Friday night. The Hurricanes enter the weekend with a 17-7 overall record and a 10-4 record in conference play. Last weekend, the Hurricanes defeated No. 17 Florida State 3-1 and swept Virginia 3-0 to improve their home record to 11-0 on the season. Miami is led offensively by sophomore outside hitter Olga Strantzali, who has 288 kills and a conference-best 40 service aces. Senior outside hitter Taylor Scott is second on the team with 277 kills while redshirt junior outside hitter Kelsie Groot adds 236 kills. Senior middle blocker Alexis Mourning adds 191 kills with a team-high 100 blocks. Sophomore setter Haley Templeton sets up the offense and has 979 assists averaging 10.41 assists per set. Senior libero Kalysta White leads the team with 355 digs and averages 3.74 digs per set.
Louisville leads the series 3-1 against the Hurricanes, including the Cardinals' 3-1 win earlier this season at the KFC Yum! Center. Erin Fairs posted a season-best 24 kills while Aniah Philo added 14 kills. Katie George had 51 assists while Molly Sauer had a match-high 17 digs and Tess Clark added eight blocks. Miami was led by Kelsie Groot's 13 kills.

The Seminoles boast a 19-6 overall record and is second in the conference with a 12-2 mark. Last week, the Seminoles dropped a road match to Miami 3-1 before recovering with a 3-0 sweep at home against Virginia to improve their home record to 10-0. For the season, senior outside hitter Nicole Walch leads the Seminole offense with 332 kills (3.73 kills per set) and is second on the team with 224 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Milica Kubura is second on the team with 213 kills while junior outside hitter Katie Horton adds 169 kills and 214 digs for the Seminoles. Redshirt junior middle blocker Sarah Burrington is second in the conference with 124 blocks and averages 1.41 blocks per set along with 165 kills. Junior Hailey Luke (553 assists) and freshman setter Brianne Burkert (452) both split time in setting up the offense. Sophomore libero Cecilie Woie boasts a team-high 298 digs and averages 3.39 digs per set. Florida State leads the series 10-5 including last year's 3-1 victory at the KFC Yum! Center.
Following the road trip, the Cardinals return home for their final home matches of the season against Clemson and Georgia Tech at the KFC Yum! Center. Seniors Katie George, Erin Fairs, and Roxanne McVey will be recognized as part of Senior Day festivities before Sunday's match against Georgia Tech.
