Cards take 4-0 ACC record on the road
The University of Louisville volleyball team hits the road for the first time in conference play with matches against Georgia Tech and Clemson this weekend. The Cardinals face Georgia Tech on Friday night at 7 p.m. in an ESPN3 televised matchup before concluding the road trip on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Clemson.Â
Louisville enters the week with a 10-4 overall record and 4-0 in ACC play after defeating both Syracuse and Boston College last weekend at the KFC Yum! Center. Against Syracuse, senior setter Katie George posted a double-double by dishing out 52 assists and adding 15 digs as Louisville defeated Syracuse 25-12, 22-25, 25-16, 25-18. Senior outside hitter Erin Fairs led the offensive attack with 16 kills while sophomore middle blocker Tess Clark and junior outside hitter Janelle Jenkins added 12 kills apiece. Freshman libero Molly Sauer totaled her career high with 29 digs and added two aces. Freshman outside hitter Aniah Philo was a kill shy of her second straight double-double with nine kills and 19 digs. In Sunday's matinee with Boston College, Jenkins had 12 kills, three aces, and two blocks to lead the team to a 25-12, 25-12, 25-17 sweep of the Eagles. UofL hit .282 for the match and held Syracuse to a -.020 hitting percentage. Philo totaled 12 kills, with nine of them being in the first set alone. Sauer added a match-high 17 digs.
On the season, senior outside hitter Erin Fairs leads the Cardinal attack with 216 kills averaging 4.00 kills per set, which is third in the conference. Junior outside hitter Janelle Jenkins adds 163 kills while sophomore middle blocker Tess Clark adds 113 kills and boasts a team-high 56 blocks. Senior setter Katie George has dished out 627 assists on the season and is ranked fifth in the nation while leading the ACC with an average of 11.61 assists per set. Freshman libero Molly Sauer has 242 digs (4.48 digs per set) and leads the team with 18 aces. As a team, Louisville leads the ACC with 16.33 digs per set.

The game will be part of Georgia Tech's Jackets for the Cure as they support Breast Cancer Awareness. Georgia Tech enters the match with an 11-5 overall record and 2-2 in conference play after falling to Miami and Florida State on the road last weekend. The Yellow Jackets are led by junior outside hitter Teegan Van Gunst, who has a team high 226 kills and averages 3.90 kills per set. She is second in the conference with 226 kills and boasts a respectable .313 attack percentage along with 174 digs, which is second highest on the team. Junior middle blocker Annika Van Gunst adds 142 kills while sophomore middle blocker Sydney Wilson contributes 139 kills and a team-high 72 blocks. Junior setter Rebecca Martin has dished out 464 assists while junior libero London Ackermann adds a team-best 260 digs. The Cardinals lead the series with the Yellow Jackets 3-1, including last year's 3-2 thrilling win at the KFC Yum! Center for the Cardinals' first ever victory in the ACC.
The Cardinals wrap up the quick road trip with a Sunday afternoon matchup against Clemson. The Tigers enter the weekend on a seven-game losing streak and stand at 5-11 on the season. The Tigers are 0-4 in conference play after falling to Florida State and Miami last weekend. The Tigers attack is led by junior outside hitter Leah Perri and freshman outsider hitter Kailey Harvell. Perri boasts a team-high 209 kills while Harvell adds 181 kills. Sophomore setter Kate Federico sets up the Tigers offense and has 509 assists and averages 8.93 assists per set on the season. Libero Keelie Arneson leads the conference with 287 digs and averages 5.22 digs per set. Louisville leads the series 3-0 including last year's 3-0 victory in Clemson.
Following the  road trip, the Cardinals return home for a three-game home stand that includes matchups against Wake Forest, Duke, and Notre Dame.
