No. 19 Boston College Visits Louisville on Friday Night

Cardinals and Eagles kick off at 7 pm ET at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville men's soccer team returns to ACC action with a pivotal home match at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium against 19th-ranked Boston College on Friday at 7 p.m., ET. The match will be streamed online through CardsTV, while live stats will be provided through GoCards.com.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville, enters Friday's match at 5-5-3 overall following a 2-1 victory over Connecticut on Tuesday. Leading the way for coach Ken Lolla's club through 13 matches is freshman Tate Schmitt, who has six goals to go along with two assists, while Daniel Johnson has four goals overall, including goals in each of the last two matches. Tim Kubel have three goals in 2015, while senior Ben Strong and junior Andrew Brody have two goals each. The Cardinals have also received goals from Shane Campbell, Romilio Hernandez, Ricardo Oliveros, Danny Reynolds and Ethan Vanacore-Decker.
ABOUT THE EAGLES
Boston College enters the weekend at 8-3-1 overall and 3-2-0 in the ACC following last Friday's 2-1 home win over No. 10 Virginia. BC also has ACC wins over Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech. Simon Enstrom leads the Eagles with five goals this season, while Trevor Davock and Zeiko Lewis have four goals each. Last season, Boston College was 5-8-3 overall and finished last in the ACC Atlantic Division with a 1-6-1 conference mark.
SERIES SNAPSHOT
Friday will mark just the second meeting all-time between the Cardinals and Eagles and it will be Boston College's first ever visit to Louisville. In the only previous meeting between the programs, Louisville earned a 3-2 victory in overtime last season at Boston College.
SCHMITT SECOND IN ACC IN GOALS, EIGHTH IN POINTS; STRONG EIGHTH IN ASSISTS
After more than seven weeks of action, Louisville freshman Tate Schmitt has emerged as one of the standout attackers in the Atlantic Coast Conference ranking among the top players in the prestigious league in goals and points. With six goals in 13 matches, Schmitt is tied for second in the conference with five other players, while his 14 points are tied for eighth most in the league. Additionally, senior Ben Strong leads the Cardinals with four assists this season, which places him tied for eighth in the ACC.
LOUISVILLE NOTES AND TRENDS...
• The Cardinals are 5-2-2 at home this season and 12-5-5 overall at Lynn Stadium since its opening prior to the 2014 season.
• Having played to a 1-3-1 record against ranked foes (win over No. 15 Kentucky, losses at No. 5 Clemson, No. 8 Stanford and at No. 10 Virginia, draw against No. 22 NC State) thus far in 2015, the Cardinals are also slated to play at No. 2 UNC and No. 4 Wake Forest this season.
• Tim Kubel leads the Cardinals with 10 career goals, while Andrew Brody is next with eight. Kubel has three goals this season and Brody has two goals.
• Andrew Brody also leads the Cardinals with 55 career starts -- highlighted by 22 last season and 20 as a freshman in 2013.
• With his game-winning goal on Tuesday against UConn, Ricardo Oliveros became the third Louisville freshman to score a goal this season joining Tate Schmitt (six goals) and Danny Reynolds (one goal).
• Ten different Louisville players have scored goals this season.
• Louisville team captains for 2015 are senior Ben Strong, junior Romilio Hernandez and Tim Kubel.
LOUISVILLE HOSTS HISPANIC HERITAGE NIGHT ON SEPT. 25
The University of Louisville men's soccer program hosted Hispanic Heritage Night at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium on Sept. 25 as the Cardinals played to a 1-1 draw against ACC foe NC State.
In conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, the Cardinals recognized and celebrated the Latino culture in America and the inspiring individuals of the past who worked for the advancement of the Hispanic community. The Latino community is a growing and dignified group in the United States and has made progress in all areas including business, politics, education, athletics, music, and entertainment, and has successfully fused itself within the culture of America.
Louisville's 2015 roster features six players with Hispanic heritage – senior Jerry Ramirez, junior Romilio Hernandez and freshmen Oliver Calvo, Eric Izaguirre, Ricardo Oliveros and Max Stiegwardt. The festivities were a celebration of tradition, heritage and soccer as the Cardinals continue their 2015 slate.
During the match, the Louisville men's soccer program honored and recognized the University of Louisville Hispanic Latino Faculty and Staff Association, which advises the President and the University of Louisville community on the nature of issues and needs confronting the Hispanic/Latino Faculty, Staff, and Students in the University. The HLFSA also provides assistance in evaluating University programs as they pertain to the Hispanic/Latino community, provides input to University and City of Louisville officials and assists the Hispanic/Latino community to make the University system more accessible. JOHNSON NAMED ACC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK ON SEPT. 15
Louisville junior midfielder Daniel Johnson was named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 15 marking the first ACC weekly honor for the Cardinals this season. Johnson, who shared the honor with Duke's Jeremy Ebobisse, connected for his first two goals as a Cardinal scoring once in the Sept. 8 win over No. 15 Kentucky and again in the 1-1 draw at Syracuse on Sept. 11. A native of Duluth, Georgia, Johnson scored in the 28th minute of Louisville's 2-0 home triumph over the rival Wildcats. Three nights later, the Maryland transfer delivered his second tally of the week connecting on the game-tying goal at Syracuse inside the final 65 seconds of the first half of the Cardinals' ACC opener.
