Volleyball Newcomers Shine in Alumnae Scrimmage

The University of Louisville volleyball team previewed the 2014 squad at the Alumnae Match Saturday night in Cardinal Arena. UofL has eight new faces on the roster.
"It was a fun debut for the team, especially the newcomers. Tess Clark and Laura Blab both took big time swings and the whole team's hard work and dedication in the preseason really showed in their fitness level. Their play was sound and the energy was high," said UofL head coach Anne Kordes.
Transfers Laura Blab had 10 kills and Tara Gowan had seven kills and four blocks. Freshmen Maggie DeJong had five kills and seven blocks. Last year's AAC Freshman of the Year Maya McClendon had eight kills.
The Cardinals hit the road with the season opener at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge at Minnesota.
