Swim Signee Todd Owen Makes Pan Pac Roster
August 16, 2014 | Swimming & Diving
On the strength of his national championship in the 200-meter breaststroke, University of Louisville swimming signee Todd Owen was named to the 2014 Junior Pan Pacific Championship roster. The meet will be held in Maui, Hawaii from August 27-31. The team will gather in Los Angeles on the August 24 before they fly to Maui as a group for meet.
The team consists of 23 men and 23 women from around the country.
Sergio Lopez from Bolles School Sharks has been named the head women's coach while John Morse from Nashville Aquatic Club has been named the head men's coach. The assistant coaches are Michael Brooks (York YMCA), Geoff Brown (NOVA of Virginia), Jaime Lewis (Gator Swim Club), Chris Plumb (Carmel Swim Club), Paul Stafford (Unattached), and Jason Turcotte (Dynamo Swim Club)
The meet was founded as an alternative to the European Championships, for those countries that could not swim in those championships. Initially, the meet was open to all countries that border the Pacific Ocean, giving the meet its name. This since has been expanded/opened to include other, non-European, countries wishing to participate (e.g. Brazil and South Africa).
