Lucas Chosen as American Athletic Conference Player of the Week

Junior infielder Zach Lucas hit a pair of three-run homers last week as the Cardinals won three of four games overall.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Louisville junior infielder Zach Lucas was selected as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday after his performances at the plate last week.
A Louisville native, Lucas connected for a pair of three-run home runs, had eight total RBI and hit .313 overall to lead the top 10 Cardinals to a 3-1 week. Finishing with a .688 slugging percentage in the four games, Lucas had a career-high four RBI in the 13-1 win over Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon in the home-opener at Jim Patterson Stadium and then matched that with another four-RBI performance in the 21-8 win over Western Michigan on Friday. Lucas also hit safely in all four games this week.
Monday's honor marked the second straight week the Louisville baseball team has earned the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week award after senior outfielder Jeff Gardner was chosen for week one of the 2014 season.
Up next, No. 9 Louisville continues its 17-game homestand with a visit from Eastern Illinois on Tuesday at 3 p.m., ET, while Morehead State is slated to visit Jim Patterson Stadium on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Admission is free for both games.
