In the final day of preliminary competition at The American Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championship, the University of Louisville has seven of the top qualifiers of the eight individual events tonight.
In the women's 200-back, U of L's Erica Belcher qualified second with a B-cut time of 1:57.15. Kristina Steins posted the fourth fastest qualifying time with a 1:59.16, also a B-cut.
In the men's 200-back, Nolan Tesone clocked an NCAA invite time of 1:42.95 as the top qualifier. Aaron Greene was second in the field (1:43.33), Grigory Tarasevich was third in 1:43.98 and Juan Lopez was fourth in 1:45.32.
In the men's 100-free, Caryle Blondell put up the eighth fastest time in the nation with an NCAA Invite time of 43.06 to be the top qualifier. Matthias Lindenbauer was second in 43.84, an NCAA B-cut. Joao De Lucca was fifth with 44.52. Trevor Carroll showed he isn't just a distance swimmer with a 44.56, the sixth fastest in the field.
In the women's 100-free, Kelsi Worrell topped the field with an NCAA Invite time of 48.86. Krissie Brandenburg was fifth in 49.68, and Breann McDowell was seventh with two of four B-cuts in the prelim.
In the 200-breast, Andrea Cottrell put up an NCAA Invite time of 2:11.12 as the top qualifier. Gisselle Kohoyda was third in 2:11.97, a B-cut. Lucy Kramer was eighth in 2:18.74.
In the men's 200-breast,Kameron Chastain was the fastest qualifier with a 1:56.93 B-cut time. Thomas Dahlia was second in 1:58.39 and Addison Bray was fourth in 1:58.87.
In the 200-fly, Tanja Kylliainen made an NCAA Invite time of 1:56.09 as the top qualifier and with the second fastest time going to Devon Bibault 1:57.56, also an NCAA Invite time.
In the men's 200-fly, Josh Quallen was tops with a 1:45.44 B-cut time with teammate Juan Lopez right behind him with a B-cut time of 1:47.17. David Boland was sixth in 1:49.56.
The 1650-free is a timed event that will be run during the break beginning at 4 p.m.
