
No. 8 Men's Swimming Finishes 4th at SMU Classic

The University of Louisville men's swimming and diving team finished fourth at the SMU Classic in Dallas, Texas in the second of a two-day event with an unusual format that allows only eight swimmers and one diver to compete in a six-lane pool.
Defending NCAA Champion and currently top-ranked Michigan won with 333, No. 3 Florida was second in 321, No. 6 USC was third with 298, No. 8 Louisville scored 266.5 ahead of Purdue's 244.5 and SMU's 210.
The Cards biggest points were scored when senior Joao De Lucca won the 100-free.
In the 200-medley relay, the foursome of Grigory Tarasevich, Kameron Chastain, Pedro Coutinho and Joao De Lucca posted a 1:27.94 for fourth place.
In the 500-free, Cardinal Trevor Carroll posted a 4:25.39 for fifth place in a race that was won by Connor Jaeger of Michigan in 4:16.54.
In the 200-breast, Cardinal Kameron Chastain posted a 1:58.12 for fourth place. Freshman Grigory Tarasevich dueled Florida's Corey Main in the 200-back, but was out-touched and finished second in 1:44.65 with Main boarding a 1:43.18. Notably, Nolan Tesone, won the B-final with a 1:44.51 in a powerful performance.
In 3-meter diving, sophomore Sean Piner scored a 299.80 for sixth place.
Joao De Lucca continues his sprint dominance with a win in the 100-free, posting a 42.98, Michigan's Bruno Ortiz was second in 43.37.
Grigory Tarasevich was sixth in the 200-fly with a 1:54.90 for the Cardinals.
In tne 200-IM, Nolan Tesone was fifth with a 1:49.09.
In a blazing fast finish to the meet, the Cards finished fourth with Joao De Lucca leading off with a 19.96, Caryl Blondell went 20.14, Trevor Carroll went 20.33 and Kameron Chastain anchored with a 20.16 for a 1:20.59. USC won with a 1:19.24.
