
Ijames Named BIG EAST Baseball Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior outfielder/first baseman Stewart Ijames was selected as the BIG EAST Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Louisville baseball team to a 4-0 record last week.
Ijames (Owensboro, Ky./Owensboro Catholic HS) was 6-for-12 at the plate with three home runs, seven RBI, seven runs scored, a .625 on-base percentage and a 1.333 slugging percentage. He reached base in 10 straight plate appearances starting with his second plate appearance in Friday's 7-4 win over Oakland and concluding with his fourth in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Grizzlies. That stretch included a pair of home runs in the 10-7 win on Saturday. Overall, Ijames is hitting .375 and leads the Cardinals with three home runs and seven RBI.
The Cardinals, ranked 14th in the latest Collegiate Baseball newspaper Top 30 released on Monday, will host Eastern Illinois for a mid-week matchup on Tuesday at 3 p.m., ET at Jim Patterson Stadium. Louisville will continue its nine-game homestand with a three-game weekend series against Pepperdine starting on Friday at 3 p.m.
