LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville baseball program has 14 former players on active rosters in professional baseball in 2011, including five in either Triple-A or Double-A.
Listed below are all of the professional assignments for the Louisville baseball alumni and some recent pro ball notes on some of the former Cardinals through Sunday, June 19.
Triple-A
- Sean Green (UofL, 1998-2000), Milwaukee Brewers/Nashville Sounds
- Is 0-2 with three saves, 21 strikeouts and a 2.78 ERA in 14 appearances and 22.2 innings in Nashville
- Was optioned to Nashville in early May after starting season with Brewers
- Trystan Magnuson (UofL, 2004-07), Oakland A's/Sacramento River Cats
- Is 2-2 with four saves, 34 strikeouts and a 2.25 ERA in 21 relief appearances and 32.0 innings in Sacramento this year
- Made two relief appearances for the A's in May before returning to Sacramento
Double-A
- Chris Cates (UofL, 2004-07), Minnesota Twins/New Britain Rock Cats
- Hitting .207 with three RBI and 15 runs scored in 40 games for New Britain this season
- Chris Dominguez (UofL, 2006-09), San Francisco Giants/Richmond Flying Squirrels
- Was promoted from Single-A San Jose to Double-A Richmond on June 16
- Hit .291 with 11 home runs, 40 RBI and 10 doubles in 63 games for San Jose this season before the promotion
- Has one hit in his first four games for Richmond in the Eastern League
- B.J. Rosenberg (UofL, 2004-08), Philadelphia Phillies/Reading Phillies
- Is 2-1 with 48 strikeouts and a 3.14 ERA in 51.2 innings of work this season. He has six starts for Reading and 17 total appearances on the mound in 2011
Single-A/Rookie
- Jeff Arnold (UofL, 2007-10), San Francisco Giants/Augusta GreenJackets (Low A)
- Hitting .211 with three home runs, 11 doubles and 12 RBI in 47 games for Augusta, where he plays alongside former U of L teammate Adam Duvall
- Andrew Clark (UofL, 2008-10), Texas Rangers/Hickory Crawdads (Low A)
- Hitting .283 with three home runs, nine doubles and 22 RBI in 56 games played for Hickory, where he plays alongside former Louisville teammate Josh Richmond
- Adam Duvall (UofL, 2009-10), San Francisco Giants/Augusta GreenJackets (Low A)
- Named starting third baseman for Southern Division in the June 21 South Atlantic League All-Star Game in Salisbury, Md.
- Will also compete in the South Atlantic League Home Run Derby prior to the All-Star Game. Last season, former Cardinal Chris Dominguez won the SAL Home Run Derby
- Duvall is tied for the South Atlantic League lead in home runs (17) and RBI (53) in his 68 games this season. He is also hitting .269 with 17 doubles for Augusta, where he plays alongside former Louisville teammate Jeff Arnold.
- Neil Holland (UofL, 2008-10), Washington Nationals/Hagerstown Suns (Low A)
- Is 1-0 with one save, 21 strikeouts and an ERA of just 0.78 in 15 appearances and 23.0 innings pitched this season for Hagerstown
- Dean Kiekhefer (UofL, 2008-10), St. Louis Cardinals/Quad Cities River Bandits (Low A)
- Is 1-0 with nine strikeouts and a 2.12 ERA in nine relief appearances and 17.0 innings of work for Quad Cities
- Bob Revesz (UofL, 2008-10), St. Louis Cardinals/Johnson City Cardinals (Rookie)
- Has not played this season
- Josh Richmond (UofL, 2008-10), Texas Rangers/Hickory Crawdads (Low A)
- Hitting .247 with six home runs, 19 doubles and 26 RBI in 63 games for Hickory, where he plays alongside former U of L teammate Andrew Clark
- Thomas Royse (UofL, 2008-10), Chicago White Sox/Bristol White Sox (Rookie)
- Has not played this season due to injury
- Justin Marks (UofL, 2007-09), Kansas City Royals/Wilmington Blue Rocks (High A)
- Is 3-5 with 67 strikeouts and a 4.91 ERA in 14 appearances on the mound for Wilmington
- Has nine starts this season with two complete games
- Phil Wunderlich (UofL, 2008-10), Tampa Bay Rays/Bowling Green Hot Rods (Low A)
- Selected as a reserve for the Eastern Division in the June 21 Midwest League All-Star Game in Davenport, Iowa
- Hitting .291 with 10 home runs, 15 doubles and 52 RBI in 64 games for Bowling Green
- Was an All-Star Game selection in the New York-Penn League in 2010
Independent
- Griffin Bailey (UofL, 2003-06), Fort Worth Cats (American Association of Independent Baseball)
- In 11 total games this season, including two with Fargo-Moorehead and nine with Fort Worth, he is 0-1 with one save and a 3.93 ERA in 18.1 innings of relief
