Almeida and Bergstrom Named BIG EAST Swimmers of the Week

Louisville's Therese Bergstrom and Carlos Almeida were named the BIG EAST Female Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week and BIG EAST Male Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week, respectively, after turning in impressive performances. This honor marks the second for Almeida this season.
Bergstrom posted two individual wins for the Cardinals in a 186-114 win at archrival Kentucky on Jan. 22. She finished the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.65 and the 200-yard version in 2:16.31. The senior also had the fastest split in the 200-medley relay of all the breaststrokers (28.66), however the freestyle leg was disqualified.
Carlos won three individual events as Louisville beat Kentucky for the second straight year 186-115 on Jan. 22. The junior finished the 100-yard breaststroke in 54.86 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:01.23. Carlos also won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:51.14.
