
Hannah Gadd Wins BIG EAST Championship in 1-Meter Diving

Freshman Diver Hannah Gadd took top honors in one-meter diving on the one-meter board and set a conference record at the BIG EAST Championship at Trees Pool Friday night at the University of Pittsburgh.
Gadd, a BIG EAST Diver of the Week and Ft. Thomas, Ky. product, set a new conference mark when she posted score a 310.60.
Gadd was fourth after the preliminary round with a score of 256.10. Connecticut's Danielle Cecco was third (257.20) after her first dive. Notre Dame manned the first two spots with Stitt anchoring second (262.75) and Heid Grossman taking the overall lead (266.25) after the first session.
Gadd impressed in the finals, joining Stitt as the only two divers to stop the 300 point mark. The Cardinal freshman beat out the Irish's experienced veteran by a single point, winning with a score of 310.60.
Teammate Kayla Purkiser was sixth with a score of 277.
Lindsey Stephens placed ninth with a score of 249.65.
"It was a good start to the championship," said U of L head coach Arthur Albiero.
