
Swimming Sends Pedro Oliveira to the 200-fly Finals

The University of Louisville swim team advanced Pedro Oliveira to the finals of the 200-fly Saturday night in the third day of the 2009 Men's NCAA National Championships hosted by Texas A&M in College Station.
Cardinal newcomer Pedro Oliveira posted a time of 1:43.59 to qualify for the consols in the 200-fly. Teammate Adam Madarassy went 1:45.16 in the same event.
The 400-free relay team debuted, manned by Brendon Andrews (44.79), Carlos Van Isschot 44.17, Alex Sweet (44.26) and anchored by Adam Madarassy (44.09) for a time of 2:47.31 but did not advance.
In other individual events, Carlos Van Isschot swam 44.59 and Brendon Andrews went 44.61 in the 100-free. In the 200-breast, Carlos Almeida boarded a 1:56.85 and senior Vali Preda went 1:57.85.
