The University of Louisville men's swim team made program history when the 200-medley relay team finished 11th Friday night at the 2009 Men's NCAA National Championship hosted by Texas A&M in College Station Texas.
"Really proud of the relay finished highest ever, and Vali broke the school record in the prelims of the 100-breast. And tomorrow we have a lot of swims tomorrow," said Arthur Albiero. "It will be a busy day."
The foursome of junior Carlos Van Isschot (back), and seniors Vali Preda (breast), Adam Madarassy (fly) and Alex Sweet (free) posted a time of 1:25.99, good enough for 11th place.
In the other individual final, senior Vali Preda, making his fourth NCAA appearance, posted a time of 53.61 in the 100-breast in the consols to score for the Cardinals in 15th.
