Senior swimmer Adam Madarassy has become the third Cardinal to make the Beijing Olympics when he qualified in the 100-meter butterfly for his native country of Hungary at their trials late last week.
Madarassy, a BIG EAST champion and NCAA participant, will join teammates Vali Preda (Romania) and Andrei Radzionau (Belarus) in Beijing. Also on deck will be U of L head coach Arthur Albiero, who will be on the Romanian coaching staff.
"Participating in the Olympic Games is the pinnacle of our sport. I am especially proud that three of our very own Cardinals will be competing in Beijing.
Madarassy swept both the 100- and 200-fly at the BIG EAST Championship. He was also on the championship 200- and 400-medley relay and the 200 and 400-free relay teams.
