The University of Louisville made an additional pair of NCAA A cuts amd an Olympic Trial qualifying time at the Last Chance Meet.
Leslie VanWinkle made an Olympic Trial Cut going 4:54.19 in the 400-IM. Vali Preda made an NCAA A-cut in the 100-meter breaststroke, going 1:02.59.
The Cardinals will now be able to send three men to the national championship in individual races. Rafal Kuchta, Adam Madarassy and Vali Preda all have automatic berths at the NCAAs for the Cards. Still on the bubble is Andrei Radzionau in the 200-free, a race that he set the BIG EAST record in.
"We did a great job and I am very pleased," said U of L head coach Arthur Albiero. "We went there with clear purpose and came out with another A-cut and an Olympic Trial cut. It isn't easy to recreate the high emotion and competitive rush that comes from a conference meet, so that difficulty factor makes it even more gratifying. Now we continue to wait on the fate of our relay teams as the last conferences complete their championships this coming weekend."
