For the first time in program history, the men's swimming and diving team has broken into the Top 25 in the national rankings. In the latest College Swim Coaches Association (CSCA) Poll, the Cardinal men are ranked No. 23.
"It is the highest ranking in Cardinal history. We are proud to be recognized as a top program in the country and certainly much credit goes to our team not just the current team but the teams in the past few years that have contributed to this success," said Arthur Albiero. "Unquestionably the vision of our administration, Tom Jurich and Julie Hermann, has set the tone for not just for our program but for the entire athletic department."
Highlights for the men's team (5-2) include first time wins over Big East rivals Notre Dame and defending Big East champion West Virginia. U of L got its first NCAA A-cut for an automatic qualifier when Rafal Kuchta earned a berth in the 200-fly at the US Long Course Invitationals. The Cardinal men already have six mid-season NCAA B cuts and the 400-Medley Relay Team is ranked 7th in the country.
