Saturday Prelims Completed at BIG EAST Championships

Feb. 18, 2006
After Saturday's preliminaries at the BIG EAST Championship, the University of Louisville swimming and diving team placed three in finals and eight swimmers in the consols.
Vali Preda continues his hot run in the championships with the fastest qualifying swim in the 200-breast with a time of 2:00.76, a NCAA B time. Heather Meng was third in qualifying in the 200-breast to gain the finals. Andrei Teudean was eighth in the 200-back to make this evening's finals.
In the consol finals this evening, Melanie Greyling will swim the 100-free. Larissa Niehoff and Amanda Taylor finished 13th and 14th respectively. Leslie VanWinkle qualified 11th in the 100-breast and Abby Miller was 12th in the 200-fly. Jonathan Farnham will swim in the 100-free consols as will Tyler Smith in the 200-fly. Chris Pinkston will try to gain points for his team in the 200-back consols.
