Louisville, Ky. - Kentucky scored two second-half goals to defeat the Cardinals 2-0 on Wednesday night in front of a crowd 2,254 in Cardinal Park. The Cardinals fall to 2-1 on the season while the Cats improve to 1-2.
The first half ended scoreless, but not without some excitement at the end as Matt Rose launched a shot from 35-yards out that looked good, but found the right post and bounced clear. Both teams finished the half with just three shots and one shot on goal.
Kentucky's Michael D'Agostino put the Cats on the board in the 48th minute of play. He took a feed from Jamal Shteiwi and after two touches shot the ball into the left side of the net .
Shteiwi then scored on a penalty kick goal in the 86th minute. Senior Andy Damier tackled UK's Riley O'Neill inside the box, drawing the penalty.
The Cardinals outshot the Wildcats 10-7 in the game. Cardinal keeper Charles Edwards finished the game with two saves while UK's keeper Andy Gruenebaum finished with three saves.
Louisville will be back in action this weekend in the Furman Tournament on Sept. 10 and 12.
