LOUISVILLE, KY - The University of Louisville and TCU split a double header on Sunday, with the Cards taking game one 3-2 and the Frogs capturing the nightcap by a score of 10-6.
TCU(28-17, 14-7) took the weekend series by winning two of three.
After a one out single by Cardinal DH Luis Pardo in the third inning of game one, fellow senior Mark Jurich hit his 14th home run of the season to give the Cards(21-23, 9-12) a 2-0 lead.
Freshman Chris Cates was hit by a pitch following the home run by Jurich, Ron Braun singled him to third on a hit and run, and Logan Johnson plated him with an RBI single for a 3-0 lead.
TCU third baseman Shelby Ford opened the fourth with his 15th home run of the season, making it 3-1 Cards.
A wild pitch scored German Duran in the fifth, cutting the lead to 3-2.
Mike Tisdale was strong through 5.2 innings, but injured his right knee when he was slid into by Cardinal third baseman Danny Plasencia on a pop-up, and was forced to exit.
In allowing two runs on five hits, Tisdale(2-5) picked up the win, striking out six.
Brian Halford earned his sixth save of the season with 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk. He is now tied for 6th all time on the U of L single season save list and is sixth on the career list with seven.
C-USA Pitcher of the Year Clayton Jerome(7-3) took the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings, striking out two.
In game two, the Cards jumped on top 2-0 in the first. Jurich singled, Cates walked and Braun blistered a double down the left field line, plating two.
TCU tied the game in the third on a two-run home run by Chris Neuman, but the Cards regained the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning.
Cates singled, Braun walked, and both were moved up on a sac bunt by Daniel Burton. Johnson then followed with a squeeze bunt that scored Cates, and Isaiah Howes doubled home Braun to make it 4-2 Cards.
Ramon Moses doubled in a run in the fourth and Ford doubled home two more to give the Frogs their first lead of the day at 5-4, but it was short-lived.
In the bottom of the fourth, Jurich belted his 15th home run of the season and ninth in his last ten games, to give U of L a 6-5 lead.
But the Frogs struck for five in the sixth on five hits and a Cardinal error for the winning margin.
Louisville starter B.J. Rosenberg surrendered five runs on six hits and four walks in four innings. He struck out two.
The loss went to Griffin Bailey (1-2), who was touched for five runs, just two of which were earned on five hits in an inning and two-thirds.
Scott Jenkins allowed a hit over the final 1.1 frames.
TCU reliever Robbie Findlay improved to 4-1 with the win, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings and fanning five.
Jurich has an 11-game hit streak and has reached base in 37 straight. He homered in four straight and was 12 for 18 with eight RBI on the week.
In nine games in the leadoff spot, Jurich is 17 for 36 with a double, seven home runs and 17 RBI and 10 runs.
He is now tied for sixth all-time at Louisville with 43 home runs.
Louisville will next travel to Lexington to face UK for the first of six on the road. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. ET.
