
Barber and Bojorquez Honored by Conference USA

LOUISVILLE, KY- University of Louisville baseball seniors Scott Barber and Morgan Bojorquez have been named Conference USA Baseball Co-Pitcher and Player of the Week respectively, for the week of March 10-16.
It marks the first time the Cardinals have swept the honors, and Barber has now earned the honor in consecutive weeks, the first Cardinal pitcher and second player to do so. Dan Kopriva was Metro Conference hitter of the week three consecutive times in 1992.
Barber went 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA, striking out 17 in 13 innings for the week, picking up wins over Western Kentucky Tuesday and a complete-game two-hit shutout at Memphis on Sunday.
He currently leads C-USA in wins(5-0) and ERA(0.77)and is second in opponents batting average(.164) and tied for fourth with 39 strikeouts in 35.0 innings.
Barber shared the honor with Houston All-American Brad Sullivan who struck out 12 in 10 scoreless innings against East Carolina.
Bojorquez, who earned the honor on May 6th last season, hit 8 for 16 with two doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI in four games. He walked twice and handled 25 chances in the field without an error.
The senior from Miami, Florida was 3 for 5 with five RBI in the Cards win over Memphis Saturday and 6 for 11 with seven RBI for the three game series. He leads the team with 16 RBI, starting all 17 games.
Louisville will host Evansville Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Cardinal Stadium and face C-USA leader Southern Miss for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday.
Admission at Cardinal Stadium is free for U of L baseball games, and home games are broadcast on WAVE 1450 AM. Those who enter at Gate Four will receive free parking at the fairgrounds.
