Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville's men soccer finished out league play with a 2-2 double overtime tie with the South Florida Bulls. The Cards improved to 10-5-2 on the season and finish out league play with a 5-2-2 record. The Cards currently stand in first place of the league standings but will have to wait to find out where they will finish.
"We put ourselves in a hole early," said head coach Tony Colavecchia. "I am proud of the way we regrouped and rallied back. This team showed a lot of character and depth today.
"South Florida is a very dangerous team. I have no doubts that they will finish strong in the conference. I thought our attack was better and we had a lot of chances to win."
The Bulls struck early in the first half when Kevin King took a deflected Hunter West shot and blasted it past Cardinal keeper Brad Sokolowski in the seventh minute. In the 15th minute Brandon Streicher's shot hit the crossbar and fell in behind Sokolowski to go ahead 2-0.
Freshman Marco Terminesi headed in a deflection from Felipe Tolomelli in the 41st minute to put the Cards on the board. Louisville struck back when Ryan Edwards took a deflected shot from Terminesi to knot the score in the 43rd minute.
The Cardinals will wrap play at home on Wednesday, Oct. 29 as they host No. 23 Indiana at 7:00 p.m. in Cardinal Park.
