Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team fell to No. 14 Indiana 2-0 on Wednesday evening in Cardinal Park. The Cards fall to 10-6-2 on the season and the Hoosiers improve to 9-3-4.
The Hoosiers' Trey Meek scored off a cross from Brian Plotkin in the 36th minute. The Hoosiers outshot the Cards 6-5 in the first half of play. Senior goalkeeper David Gisler had three saves in the first half.
The Cardinal attack got going in the second half as they outshot the Hoosiers 12-5 in the second half of play. Senior Simon Bird finished the game with eight shots and four on goal. Hoosier keeper Jay Nolly had six saves in the second half.
The Hoosiers dashed the Cards hopes of a tie in the 81st minute when junior forward Ned Grabavoy slipped past the Cardinal defense and crossed the ball to Jacob Peterson for a goal in the 81st minute of play.
The Cardinals will wrap up the regular season at the Florida International Tournament this weekend. Louisville will face Alabama A&M on Friday and Philadelphia University of Saturday.
Louisville currently stands in first place of the league standings but will not know the final outcome of the conference race until Nov. 8 when league play concludes.
