LOUISVILLE, KY. - Louisville Cardinal freshman pitcher Zach Jackson was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American baseball team on Wednesday. The Pennsylvania native was one of 20 pitchers on the list following his first season with the Cards.
Jackson, a 6'5" lefthander, tied the U of L single season record with 10 wins in his initial campaign, going 10-3 with a 4.77 ERA in 14 starts. He had one complete game and allowed 44 runs on 80 hits and 24 walks in 83.0 innings of work. Jackson struck out 46 and opponents batted .254 against the southpaw.
In Conference USA games he was 7-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 10 starts.
Jackson was earlier named to the Conference USA All-Conference Second Team and the All-Freshman team.
The team is selected by Collegiate Baseball, and featured Cardinal outfielder Mark Jurich last season as an honorable mention selection.
