
Men's Soccer Ends In Tie Against DePaul

Chicago, Ill. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team tied DePaul in double overtime today in the muddy conditions in Chicago. Junior Courtenay Commander led the way for the Cards with two goals.
The Blue Demons struck quick off a penalty kick from Robert Marshall at the 7:54 mark. Then DePaul's Anthony Minniti took a pass from Marshall to score with a lob above Morales head to go up 2-0 four minutes later.
The Cards got on the board with a score from Commander off a corner kick from Sean Murphy at the 24 minute mark.
The Blue Demon's Chris Greer then scored off a dribble from 12 yards out to put DePaul up 3-1 at the 85:31 mark. The Cardinal newcomer Bryan Elkan scored on a scramble in front of the net just fifteen seconds later to put the Cards in striking distance.
With just 2:50 remaining, Commander scored off a dribble from 18 yards to knot the score at three all, forcing the overtime.
Neither team was able to convert in the overtime periods forcing a tie.
The Cards will travel to Lexington on Wednesday, Sept. 26 to take on the Kentucky Wildcats at 7:30 p.m.
