Women's Tennis Loses to UAB

CHICAGO - The University of Louisville women's tennis team was shut out by UAB 7-0 Sunday at DePaul.
UAB swept the doubles point as Mirela Vladulescu and Monika Schmid teamed to beat Katie McLaughlin and Kelly Whitler 8-1 at the top seed. The teams of Julie Penn/Kelly Kiehna and Paige Eber/Mariana Torres also fell at No. 2 and 3.
In singles action, McLaughlin, Penn, Whitler, Kiehna, Eber lost in straight sets at Nos. 1-5 respectively. Torres went to three sets against Liem before falling 2-6, 6-0, 6-7(7-6) at the six seed.
The Cards (2-6) will play host to Miami (Ohio) February 16 at 4 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
